Success in Medtech requires both a great product and great people. That's where we come in.

Tern helps emerging Medtech companies understand global markets and come up with actionable go to market strategies.

Think of us as the architects for market sizing, staged launch planning, advisory boards, assessment of distribution partners, direct sales models, and more.

The Heart of Tern Medtech.

Our philosophy.

Between our team-forward focus, relentless pursuit of business with integrity, fact-based decision making, and grounded mindset, we understand that Medtech is about the people – both the people who make the innovation happen, and the end user whose life is changed as a direct result of successful collaboration.

It’s simple: your needs first. Operating with honesty and integrity, we will ensure that your business makes the best decisions for your target markets.

We aren’t looking for short term work.

Neither should you.

Tern thrives on longer term engagements where we can truly become an invaluable partner. To understand your culture, your market’s culture, and how it all connects at a level that only years of successful collaboration can do.

What guides us.

Our values are cyclical.

To be innovative, we need to operate with integrity.

To operate with integrity, we need to be insightful.

To be insightful, we need a focus on the future.

Innovation.

Our true profit is in a job well done and a concrete impact. A passion for entrepreneurship and the groundbreaking ideas it fosters.

New go to market models, thoughtful use of AI – simply put, thinking differently.

Insight.

Fact-based decision making and an eye for the details, coming from years of knowledge and a deep understanding of the industry.

We don’t wing it. We act with purpose and based on the best information we can find.

Integrity.

Reliable, honest, transparent. We challenge each other and won’t lie to you. This is analytical work; there’s no room for ego.

We aren’t afraid to challenge your thinking, and we expect you to challenge us back.

Years of experience in Medtech roles across the world...

gained from working and living in the US and Europe.

Justin has lived and worked in the UK and Italy for the past decade, having the good fortune of building Shockwave Medical’s international commercial team from scratch. Including hiring distributors, sales teams, and marketing teams.

The results speak for themselves.

Justin has travelled extensively across Europe and has a wide network of interventional cardiologists and Medtech leaders. Justin’s work at Shockwave resulted in the company’s successful expansion in Europe, growing sales from $5m to well over $150m when he left in 2025.

now that you know our background, get to know us.

Decades of experience led to the formation of Tern Medtech.

Meet the founder,
Justin Gray.

Justin Gray

To whom it may concern,

I distinctly remember just how scary it can be starting an international commercial organization from scratch. Tern is here to help you learn from my mistakes and past successes.

I grew up in the US but built my career in Europe, working in marketing and sales roles in the MedTech industry with Medtronic, Boston Scientific and Shockwave Medical.

This company is named after the Artic Tern bird for several reasons.

Firstly, the Artic Tern migrates farthest of any animal on the planet – from the Arctic to the Antarctic each year in search of food – that’s 70,000km.

Secondly, the Tern can be found on all 7 continents, making it one of the most widespread animals on the planet.

These two qualities alone – pure exceptionalism and a truly global approach – form the perfect representation of this company.

Later on, I was reminded by a former colleague that both the male and female Terns make their epic migration journey together – equality in motion.

I hope you connect with the symbolism as much as we do.
